The cervical branch of the facial nerve runs forward beneath the platysma, and forms a series of arches across the side of the neck over the suprahyoid region. This includes the marginal mandibular or cervical branch of the facial nerve (​cranial nerve VII) or both, the lingual nerve (cranial nerve V3), or the ipsilateral.
